The Eastern Hemisphere is a safe haven for world music, but most specifically music from the eastern half of the globe. I play music from a variety of cultures, especially the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Africa, India, and Asia.
The first hour of my show is dedicated to bellydancers: this is music mostly from the Middle East, especially Turkish, Egyptian, Persian, Isreali, Arabian, and other cultures in which bellydance influences the music genre. The music I play varies from mild tempos to wild, fast-paced drum solos. If it doesn't get you moving, I'm not sure what will! Some of my regular artists include Hossam Ramzy, Susu Pampanin, Raquy and the Cavemen, Solace, Tarkan, and others.
The second hour of The Eastern Hemisphere progresses into other genres of music: contemporary world pop, rock, swing, folk, and world beat. You will probably hear Bhangra and Bollywood mixed with Turkish pop, African hip-hop, Jewish Klezmer Cabaret, Siberian Surf Rock, and anything else I can get my hands on. If you're dying to hear something on the air, and I don't already have it in my collection, I accept CDs--provided they're in a genre found in the Eastern Hemisphere.
